The Keys to Thanksgiving
Philippians 4:4-8 - (NIV)
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
We set aside a day this week to say thank you, but hopefully we don’t only use this week to give God thanks. As you mature, the things you thank God for begin to change. For example, when you’re young, you thank God for your house, car, and money. But as you get older, your message of thanks becomes one of peace of mind, love from family, and sometimes, just waking up to see one more day. In this scripture, Paul is writing to Philippi and giving them keys to thanks giving. First, Paul says, look up. Look up and give God thanks. Paul tells us not to worry about anything and when life gets you down, look up for help. The more you look up, the more blessings will come down. Next, Paul tells us to look around. While you slept last night, someone was involved in a shooting. Someone else was sent to the hospital. We have every reason in the world to be fearful, but as Christians, God provides us a peace beyond understanding. So, look around. Lastly, Paul tells us to look ahead and say thank you in advance of your blessing. You live in apartment right now, but God’s got a house for you. You’re sick, but a healing is on the way. You’re family situation is messed up right now, but God can fix it. If you’re blessings haven’t come just yet, take a note from Paul. Look up; look around, and look ahead. Be blessed!

The Preaching of Christ
Mark 1:21-22 - (NIV)
21 They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.
We talk about giving God the praise a lot at HGOP Church; however, make no mistake that there has to be some doctrine that goes along with your praise. To give you some context, the verses above tell us that Jesus enters into the synagogue and begins preaching. He has no background and no experience, but enters the synagogue and begins teaching God's Word with authority. We all have some sort of ministry in our lives. It might not be preaching, but it could be singing in the choir, working with children, or volunteering. Perhaps, it's just telling your story to encourage someone else. Listen to your ministry that comes from your life experience. Be blessed!

God Will Provide
Philippians 4:19 - (NIV)
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Today's message was simple; whatever you're seeking, God will provide. We get tired, right? We run here and run there, and sometimes (most of the time) it looks like we can't get ahead. Bills piling up, children acting up, job cutting up! It's always something. Then, you see someone else that always seems to have it together while you're falling apart. During these types of trying times and situations, we have to know that God will provide. As humans, we only bring what have to the table, and sometimes that just not enough. It's how we find ourselves in these situations. Remember, God knows our needs and we can depend on him to get us through. They aren't called TEST-imonies for nothing! Just know with God's grace and your faith, he'll provide. Be blessed!
